CAGAYAN VALLEY REGIONAL AGRI-FISHERY ACHIEVERS

elcome to the Cagayan Valley Regional Achievers in Agriculture and Fisheries webpage. It is dedicated to recognizing the successful achievements, exemplary contributions and selfless dedication of farmers, fisherfolk and other individuals and institutions towards the production of adequate, accessible, affordable, safe and secure supply of food for the Region 02 residents, in particular, and the neighboring regions and beyond, in general.

An annual national search for outstanding achievers in agriculture and fisheries is being conducted under the coordinative efforts of the Department of Agriculture - Central Office (DA-CO).

This Annual Search for Agricultural Achievers started in 1970, when the DA, through the then National Food and Agricultural Council (NAFC), in cooperation with the Philippine Jaycees, first launched the Search for the Outstanding Farmers of the Year.

The succeeding years witnessed the birth of related quests which paid tribute to individuals and associations whose exemplary dedication and significant contributions to their respective fields in agricultural development were deemed worthy of emulation.

Beginning in 1987, the DA annual search expanded to many other productive agricultural endeavors. It now covers such categories as Outstanding Farmers Adopting Integrated Farming System; Fish Farmers (Capture Fisheries and Aquaculture); Farm Family; Young Farmers'/ Fisherfolk's Organization; Rural Improvement Club; Agricultural and Fishery Councils (PAFC & MAFC); DA Employees for Support Services, Planning and Research; PAO, MAO & Agricultural Extension Worker; and Agricultural Scientist.

The Department takes pride in honoring the winners yearly every month of May. It is its deepest hope that the honor it bestows on them shall inspire the honorees into even greater heights in enriching agricultural development in this country, as the same successes should encourage others to walk the same path they are treading.

The Search affords the occasion, the time and place to confer upon the national heroes -- the farmers and fisherfolk who have quietly belabored all year-round to keep the nation's economy going -- the recognition they rightfully deserve. Now, more than 300 farmers who have this distinction are members of the Federation of National and International Outstanding Farmers of the Philippines, Incorporated. They did not rest on their laurels, but, instead, continued to be of service to this beautiful nation.
